Christmas Morning

Christmas was really fun this year. The kids were beyond excited to put out cookies for Santa and oats spiked with "magic" glitter for the reindeer. It is so much fun to see little ones display pure joy. They don't hold back either. Santa brought a bike for Molli, a train table with tracks for Adam, and a music toy for Courtney. It isn't what they asked for, but they weren't disappointed.

This year we decided to make room for their new toys by giving away unwanted toys that just take up space. We told the kids that some children don't have toys and so we wanted them to pick out toys to give away to those children. I really thought that my kids would just pick out a couple of things that they never touched or were broken, but I was surprised to see what they donated. They put toys in bags that they still played with because they wanted those children who didn't have any toys to have something good to play with. I was really touched when Molli said, "they haven't ever seen one of these before, " and stuck her Care Bears into the bag. She kept just one of them, but if you know Molli you know that her Care Bears are precious to her and she just gave them away. She also gave half her My Little Ponies and Barbies away. Adam gave away things that he loves as well. Mark said, "how else are they going to learn about giving?" He is right and I am glad that my kids at least experienced the true Spirit of Christmas this year.

that is great that your kids gave their toys away. I have tried that several times and I always instantly get tears. I guess my kids have some work to do.
